FSU To Face Houston in Peach Bowl

Florida State hopes its New Year’s Eve visit to Atlanta turns out better than its last trip as the Seminoles will take on Houston in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

The College Football Playoff Committee announced the match-up on Sunday. FSU will come in ranked ninth by the committee while Houston is 18th in the final playoff rankings.

The Seminoles also moved up one spot in each of the two traditional polls. FSU is now No. 9 in the AP Poll and eighth in the Amway Coaches Poll.

The Seminoles remain one of three ranked ACC teams. Clemson tops each poll and will face No. 4 Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl in one of two national semifinals. No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Michigan State will play in the other national semifinal in the Cotton Bowl.

North Carolina is ranked 10th in both the playoff rankings and the AP Poll. The Tar Heels are 11th in the Coaches Poll.

FSU and Houston will meet at noon eastern time on December 31st. The Seminoles’ last visit to the Georgia Dome was a 26-17 win over South Carolina in Chick-fil-A Bowl on New Year’s Day in 2010. FSU lost to Georgia Tech 22-16 in Atlanta earlier this season.
