To the shock of tens of people, UFC Middleweight Yoel Romero was informed by the USADA that he has failed an out-of-competition drug test.

The UFC confirmed the news with the following statement:

“The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) informed Yoel Romero of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Romero. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.”

With yet another fighter testing positive in the middleweight division, veteran fighter and maybe the biggest proponent of out-of-competition testing, Tim Kennedy was quick to jump to Twitter to get after Romero.

Romero is coming off of a split-decision victory over Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza at UFC 194 in December. He was ranked #2 on UFC.com behind former champ Chris Weidman.
