Isaac Jordan, Ryan Taylor receive seeds for NCAAs

Full brackets for the upcoming NCAA Wrestling Championships were released on Wednesday and Wisconsin’s Isaac Jordan and Ryan Taylor received seeds.

Jordan, a three-time NCAA qualifier, received the No.2 seed at 165 pounds, while Taylor, who is also a three-time qualifier, is the No.12 seed at 133 pounds.

The championships are slated for March 17-19 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Jordan (25-0) will face Adam Fierro (17-9) of California State-Bakersfield in the first round, while Taylor (9-5) will face Missouri’s Zach Synon (16-12) in his opening match.

Wisconsin’s three remaining qualifiers did not receive seeds, but discovered their first-round match-ups.

Ricky Robertson (14-13), who is making is second appearance at the national tournament, will face Keaton Subjeck (20-7) of Stanford in a pigtail match at 174 pounds. Should Roberston win, he would face No.5 Zach Brunson of Illinois in the first round of championship action.

Both Johnny Jimenez and Ryan Christensen are set to make their first appearance at the NCAAs.

Jimenez (18-14) will go toe-to-toe with the seven seed, Darian Cruz (28-5) of Lehigh, in an opening bout at 125 pounds.

Christensen (18-18) faces No.10 Nate Brown (21-4) of Lehigh in the first round at 184.

None of the five Wisconsin wrestlers have previously wrestled the opponents they will face in the first round.
