Training Camp Has Begun For The Patriots

TCU

The offseason has finally come to an end and the Patriots have taken the practice field for the first time this season. With a lot of questions going into training camp, a good amount were answered. The Patriots took the first just after 9 AM and concluded practice at 11:45 AM.

Today, as anyone would expect, was all conditioning no pads just helmets. There were lots of sprints and footwork drills on the agenda or all the wide receivers. Aaron Dobson really stood out today as he had a very nice dive and catch in the end zone from Brady and a very good one-handed catch in the back corner of the end zone thrown by Garoppolo.

This is not the first time we have seen a strong Aaron Dobson as he did the same thing last year but once the season started it slowly went down hill and he was dropping noticeably more balls.

As far as the quarterback position goes it was mostly Garoppolo and Brady taking all the snaps with the first team and Jacoby Brissett took snaps with the second string. I will say, Brissett surprised me he did not look to back, he definitely has a lot to work on but for the first day of training camp I was impressed.

Injuries are definitely a problem for the Patriots right now. But there is some good news to report on. You can take Shaq Mason off the PUP list as he was fully active in today’s practice. Edelman was also on the field but he did not have a helmet on so will remain on the PUP list for now. Brady and Edelman were together doing some light throwing at the beginning of practice.

The Patriots will be back at it tomorrow as day 2 of the training camp starts at 9:15am and will run until 11:45 am.
