Pittsburgh Pirates Social Media Round-up: Swimming, Shopping and Surviving Pittsburgh Traffic

The Pittsburgh Pirates Have a Spring in Their Steps, a Song in Their Hearts and Good Deeds on Their Minds

The Pirates are looking more, well, Piratesy these past few weeks. Yes, the struggle is still real – but there’s an unmistakable pop in the plays and crack in the bats that’s making Pirates fans think that these guys may actually like playing baseball again. And their social media accounts reflect this positive upswing, too.

Perhaps it’s Marte’s according music that’s lifting everyone up?

(Actually, that is Ivan Nova‘s instrument)

Even Manager Clint Hurdle‘s mood seems to have lifted a bit, as he was spied interacting with fans in a most spectacular way in LA.

Olympics fever isn’t just for us armchair athletes – the pros are just as enamored as everyone else. Bench Beast Matt Joyce keeps up with the medals count:

And Josh Harrison just wanted to get in on the Gold Medal swimming events…

Good sons make even better husbands, and by all accounts, Gregory Polanco is very good to his mama. He’s posted several photos on Instagram through the seasons celebrating his mom’s cooking and her presence at games. But one of the coolest things he does? Takes his mom shopping. She seems to enjoy Nordstrom.

Polanco’s mom could perhaps share some tips on navigating Pittsburgh traffic with Rookie Jameson Taillon – or share his frustration…

Don’t worry Jamo – it’ll make sense soon!

Adam Frazier is getting used to Pittsburgh, too, touring some buddies around recently:

Veteran Ivan Nova will also likely need some help getting to know Pittsburgh a bit, but he’s just happy to be here all the same.

No word on how well Reliever Felipe Rivero is adjusting to the Burgh, but we know one thing – he’ll certainly look sharp and have his music with him with these custom Pirates-themed Beats:

Josh Harrison is well-known for his service to the community. Last Sunday, he hosted his annual All Star Dinner to raise funds to stop childhood poverty throughout the greater Pittsburgh area.

Team Photo Day was Wednesday and the guys did their very best to behave themselves.

The media even took a moment to preserve their place in history

After a while, the heat, and seriousness of the situation got to be too much for some of the guys on the team…

And that quirky Francisco Cervelli also dropped this gem for MLB writer Adam Berry:

From a team photo on a major league field to the very beginnings… In the For Love of the Game, Jared Hughes was at the Pony League World Series this past week – perhaps inspiring some young pitchers to keep grinding.

That’s about all this week for the Pirates’ Social Media Round-Up. The Bucs take on the Dodger today at 4:05 p.m. Have a great weekend and #LetsGoBucs
