The Saints kick off the 2016 season this Sunday at home to the Oakland Raiders. Right out of the gate the Saints are only 1 point favourites at home against a Raiders team that finished with the same 7-9 record as the Saints a year ago.
I’m personally an avid NFL bettor and I wanted to look at some of the other Saints futures betting options and odds and give my thoughts.
All of the odds are from Bovada, the top rated sportsbook in the USA. Here’s a full Bovada.lv review if you’re interested in learning more about the sportsbook.
NFC South Division Winner Odds
- Carolina Panthers -240
- Atlanta Falcons +650
- New Orleans Saints +650
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers +650
The Panthers are the huge favorites to win the NFC South this year, as they should be. The Panthers absolutely dominated in the regular season last year going 15-1, and I think the only way they don’t win the division this year is if they lose Cam Newton to an injury.
It’s interesting that the Saints are packaged at the same odds as both the Falcons and the Bucs.
Super Bowl Odds
- New Orleans Saints +7500
There are only 4 teams with longer odds to win the Super Bowl than the Saints, with the Titans, Bucs, Browns and 49ers the only teams with longer odds. This probably has a lot to do with the Panthers likely taking down the division, which will force the Saints to claw their way into a wild card spot just to make the playoffs.
- Over/Under 7 Wins
The oddsmakers are giving the Saints a wins total equal to what they finished with last season. I like the over here. The defense can only improve from last year and if the D plays even naverage football the Saints offense will pick up the slack and help get some wins this season.
Survivor Pool Contest
Those are the three main futures betting lines for the Saints this season. I also want to draw your attention to a Survivor Pool contest with $1000 in prizes at SportsBetListings.com. The contest is free to enter and it takes just a minute to sign up. Click the link above for all the information.
The contest states that you can only pick each team once throughout the season though, so be sure to save your Saints game for the 49ers in early November.Read next
