World Cup Recap: Canada Beats Europe 3-1



The team that couldn’t possibly make it there vs the team that was expected to be there. As it turned out, Canada played just well enough to beat Europe in this one.

Tomas Tatar (who else) Scored for team Europe from Dennis Seidenberg

and Anze Kopitar. Team Canada got goals from Brad Marchand and Steven Stamkos, his first, from Ryan Getzlaf. Marchand has the most goals in the tournament. He’s scored four in five games. Stamkos’ goal weas a result of a Getzlaf takeaway leading directly to a two on one.

Carey Price stopped 32 shots for Team Canada. He’s given up six goals in five games. Team Europe backstop Jaroslav Halak made 35 saves.

Canada takes a 1-0 series lead. Game 2 is on Thursday night at 8:00 on ESPN2 from Air Canada Centre.
