Quarterback Case Keenum is not the problem for the Los Angeles Rams

When the Los Angeles Rams lost to the Detroit Lions this past weekend, which resulted in quarterback Case Keenum throwing a late interception to seal the deal of the loss, I noticed a lot of fans have this common saying.

“The reason why we lost is because Keenum threw a stupid interception, we need to start Goff” He was on fire and tried to tread the needle. I don’t blame for that one mistake when himself and Kenny Britt were the only ones who showed up in the game. Go blame the defense that made countless mistakes over the past two weeks.

The Rams are on a two game losing streak, but here’s an interesting stat. Don’t blame Keenum after you read this. What if I told you that over these last two weeks Case Keenum has the second-best completion percentage and the fifth-most passing yards in the NFL.

Not to mention the Rams running game has been nowhere to be found. Try asking a quarterback to do everything and win the game.

He actually did that against the Cardinals. Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals was just another example of how the Rams go as Keenum goes. With a struggling run game only amassing 41 yards on 23 carries for a measly 1.8 yards per carry, Keenum was able to shoulder most of the offensive load for Los Angeles.

Keenum posted two touchdown passes to Brian Quick, the second of which proved to be the game winner with 2:36 remaining in the fourth quarter. He was able to complete 60 percent of his passes and had a passer rating of 111.3, both of which are respectable numbers for any starter in the league.

For someone who has the worst offensive line in the league, along with a running back who has yet to get back to form: Kennum is ranked the 15th best QB in the league right now according to ESPN.

Jared Goff will not be the starting QB for the Los Angeles Rams until it’s clear Case Keenum cannot lead this offense.
