Game Preview: Timberwolves at Grizzlies

Memphis Grizzlies v Minnesota Timberwolves

Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 7 p.m. (Central) at FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee.

MATCHUP:

The Timberwolves will look to carry momentum gained from their 5-2 preseason, as they travel to Memphis to take on a new-look Grizzlies under the guidance of new head coach David Fizdale, who was previously an assistant coach for the Miami Heat.

The Grizzlies also added forward Chandler Parsons this offseason to bolster their starting lineup talent, agreeing on a 4-year, $94 million dollar deal.

Wolves fans will be very familiar with the Grizzlies after this matchup, having just played Memphis Oct. 19 for their first home preseason game.  Minnesota will also host Memphis Tuesday November 1, the home-opener for the 2016-17 regular season.

Timberwolves:  Nikola Pekovic – out/season (recurring foot pain)

Grizzlies:  Chandler Parsons – out (knee), Brandon Wright – out (ankle), Marc Gasol – minute restriction (foot), Tony Allen – out (sore right knee), Jarrell Martin (foot) – questionable, Troy Daniels (knee) – probable

LAST MEETING:

During the three times these two teams met last season, the Wolves came out victorious in two games, beating Memphis 106-101 on January 23rd.  The Grizzlies managed to squeak out a victory in their second meeting on February 19th, 109-104.

Their third and final time matching up saw the Wolves win 114-108 on March 16th.

The Timberwolves hold the overall regular season matchup win total, with 45 wins against the Grizzlies, versus their 35 wins.

NOTEWORTHY:

Zach LaVine had a double-double in their most recent March 16th meeting during the past 15-16’ season, going off for 28 points along with 11 assists in 41 minutes of play in the win.
