Report: Alshon Jeffery suspended four games for violating NFL’s PED policy

Minnesota Vikings v Chicago Bears

Chicago Bears star wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has been suspended four games without pay for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing drugs, according to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

He will be eligible to return after Week 14, Schefter added.

The Bears placed the franchise tag on Jeffery last offseason. He will be a free agent this offseason, unless the team places the franchise tag on him again.

Jeffery, 26, has 40 catches for 630 yards and one touchdown this season. He will miss games against New York, Tennessee, San Francisco and Detroit due to suspension.

A Pro Bowl selection in 2013, Jeffery has amassed 292 receptions for 4,358 yards and 25 touchdowns in four-plus seasons with the Bears. He is their top receiving option on offense.
