With the Rangers on the west coast, there’s little surprise that the Rangers are giving themselves an insurance policy for tonight which the Rangers may have to use with the statuses of Kreider and Buchnevich up in the air. Nieves has a goal and five assists in 13 games for the struggling Wolf Pack.
After looking at the Rangers’ shift chart from Calgary, it appears that Kreider was hurt very late in that game on Saturday, as he didn’t take his last shift with Stepan and Nash in the third period. Buchnevich on the other hand seems to be dealing with a cranky back. Given his production lately, the timing is incredibly unfortunate.
There appears to be greater concern on the status of Kreider as it sounds from the beat writers out on the west coast, that Kreider has left the team temporarily and is in the hands of trainers and doctors to figure out what is wrong with him.
