The San Antonio Spurs experienced deja vu from a little over two weeks ago in Miami. They built a big lead and nearly blew it. But a man known as “The Klaw” would save the day.

Kawhi Leonard scored a team-high 20 points as he led the Spurs to a 94-90 win over the Miami Heat at the AT&T Center on Monday night.

San Antonio had five players in double figures beginning with Leonard’s 24. LaMarcus Aldridge added 18 and Pau Gasol chipped in 12 for the Spurs, who had their projected starting five for just the second time this season.

Danny Green did not play in the second half after a knee to the groin. Dwayne Dedmon left in the third quarter after suffering a knee injury. As of this writing there is no update on neither players status.

The Heat were led by Dion Waiters 27 points. Hassan Whiteside added 23 points and 17 rebounds for Miami (2-7), who have now lost five straight.

San Antonio led by as many as 16 points, but a sloppy third quarter got Miami back in it. The Spurs shot just 26 percent in the third as Miami went on a 21-6 run to cut the lead to four.

Up next: The Spurs are now 8-3 on the season and will return to the court on Wednesday when they take on the Sacramento Kings inside the Golden1 Center to open up a quick West Coast road trip.
