Florida shocked much of the hockey world last season by putting together one of the highest point totals in the league. They were upended by the New York Islanders 4 games to 2, but with a young core, and a clear minded direction, this seemed like the first of many trips to the NHL postseason. there was a shake up in the Panthers front office over the offseason, however, and Gallant’s leash was made much shorter. The Panthers are middling right now. Not terrible, but not at the pace of last season. Despite what Gallant had brought to the table, he was unceremoniously ushered out the door. Don’t cry for Gerrard Gallant, however, as he won’t stay unemployed for long.
