What makes them impressive
A lot of times when I do these double segments, it’s hard to tie the two fighters together. However, there could not be two fighters who have a more easy tie to why they are impressive. Both of these fighters have ridiculous pressure with their striking. Kish, despite not having a single (T)KO victory, has very technical and furious striking. Most of this is due to her background in Muai Thai, where she went 18-2 over the course of 10 years – most of which was in Thailand.
Lando might not have the background that Kish does, but his striking is still solid. Despite starting wrestling and jiu jitsu at 13 years old, what shined through in his debut against Tony Ferguson was his hands. Twice he tagged Ferguson, who is a top contender in the division, one of which ended with a knockdown.
Why they has been overlooked
The answer here with Lando is pretty obvious. In only one ever UFC fight, he lost by submission. However, as mentioned before, it was against a top contender. Against more level competition, he’ll certainly look much better.
Kish is a more complicated case. While she is exciting and has only wins on her record, she still isn’t really taking a quick trajectory to the top. This is likely because she has been injured a whole bunch of times. On The Ultimate Fighter, she had to bow out due to a knee injury. Likewise, she had to drop out of her last fight due to a spiral fracture in her hand. A long period of healthy time might bring her to the front on the line.
What makes these good match-up
Ashley Yoder’s game seems to mostly depend on her getting fights to the ground. In the only fight in which she couldn’t get the fight to the ground, against Kate Jackson on The Ultimate Fighter, she lost a decision. With Kish’s pressure and footwork, she is great and keeping other fighters away from takedowns. And if this takes place on the feet, there is little chance that Yoder comes away looking all that strong.
Vannata has a slightly different level of opponent. Facing off against a very strong striker who will likely oblige him in a striking battle. However, this could be where Vannata’s wrestling background comes into play. Certainly, his well-rounded nature will make this a facinating fight to watch.
