McLemore’s confidence is at an all-time high

What a game it was in Golden 1 Center as the Kings defeated the Hawks 108-107. This is the second consecutive game in which the Kings scored 108, and both have resulted in victories.

Ben McLemore, again, is the Reno Dodge Power Performer for the second consecutive game. Last night he had 22 points, nine rebounds and three assists. He also shot 47 percent from the field.

“I’ve been working my butt off since I got in the league and I will continue to do that,” McLemore said. “As soon as my number got called, I was prepared and ready to face the challenge and go out there mentally tough and ready.”

McLemore played 42 minutes in this game, his highest for the season. Head Coach Dave Joerger is finally seeing the potential in the 4th year player from Kansas. McLemore and guard Darren Collison fed off each other this game, making this backcourt an interesting one to say the least. Speaking of Collison, remember this clutch layup?

McLemore got 22 points without even hitting a single free throw, so he is proving that he can be a threat from the outside just as well. For the game, McLemore went 6-of-10 from three, putting him at 60 percent. For his last six games, McLemore is shooting 44 percent from beyond the arc.

McLemore now holds the starting shooting guard position for the Kings, and if he keeps playing well, he could keep on getting adequate minutes. The Kings’ role players are beginning to play better, making it easier for Cousins to do a little bit less. The system that Joerger is using is a perfect fit for a guy like McLemore.

This is the Kings’ second consecutive win, (22-32) and are only 2.5 games behind the Nuggets for the eighth seed. The Kings will take on the Pelicans tomorrow at 6 P.M. on NBATV.
