A mid-season coaching change for the Bruins seems to have light a fire under the Bruins roster. As the past three games, we have seen a totally different Bruins team that we have not seen for some time now.

After a 5 to 3 win over the Sharks and a 4 to 3 win over the Canucks, the Atlantic Division-leading Canadians came to town to play the Bruins in a Sunday night Prime time game.

This game was all Bruins all day as dominated for all three periods on offense and Defense. The Canadians could never get anything going and when they did Rask was all over them, as he was a wall in net last night.

The game started off high intensity for the Bruins as it only took 58 seconds before Tory Krung and Andrew Shawn dropped the gloves. This really set the tone of the night as the Bruins played a very physical game.

We also saw a very uncharacteristic move by Adam McQuaid who found the score sheet first for the Bruins. In McQuaid’s six years with the Bruins, I do not recall another time where he went below the circles and was wide open for a perfect backdoor goal. But none the less he would not be the only Bruins defensemen to score. As Zdeno Chara in the second period had a nifty short-handed goal that gave the Bruins a 2-0 lead.

“He was dialed in,” Cassidy said of Chara. “He wanted to be out there in all key situations.”

But Chara was not the only one dialed in as Tuukka Rask received his 36th shutout breaking his tie for second on the Bruins all-time shutout list. Rask entered 0-9-3 at TD Garden during the regular season against Montreal.

“We definitely have played like that,” Rask said. “Obviously when you score a lot of goals, it’s easy to be energized, but I think everybody is skating hard and we’re playing as a five-man unit and being creative in the offensive zone.”

Bruins interim head coach Bruce Cassidy also had some good words to say after the game saying: “I hope they’re confident. They should be,” Cassidy said. “They’ve played well and rebounded when stretches haven’t gone well or got a goal scored against us.”

The Bruins will now have five days off before opening a four-game west coast road trip next Sunday against the Sharks.
