Dan Feeney Pays Rams a Visit Ahead of Draft

Despite claiming former New England Patriots guard Tre’ Jackson off of waivers the Rams do not feel that they’re done upgrading the offensive line. They aren’t wrong for thinking that, after all Andrew Whitworth and John Sullivan are stop gap solutions while Greg Robinson and Roger Saffold carry clouds of uncertainty. Jared Goff needs all the help he can get not just for this season but for the future as well. The Rams would be wise to begin investing heavily in their offensive line much like the Cowboys, Raiders, and Falcons have. Despite needing a wide receiver, many draft experts have the Rams possibly taking an offensive lineman with the 37th overall pick if the value is to big to pass up. Dan Feeney would be a player that is too big to pass up at that spot because he is regarded as one of the top interior offensive lineman in the draft.  Les Snead knows this which is why Dan Feeney will be paying the team a visit just before next week’s draft.

Fans might not be excited about a guard being taken first but sometimes the sexy pick isn’t the right pick. Dan Feeney would solidify the Rams line for years to come and make life exponentially better for both Goff and Gurley. Feeney is regarded as being very athletic with a knack for picking up blitzes and recognizing stunts. He has a great instinct as a run blocker and knows who to hit once he gets to the second level and is also a nimble pass protector. If Feeney makes it to pick 37 hes definitely worth picking up especially considering that the receiver market will be pretty consistent once the first round talent are gone. If one of the star receivers such as Corey Davis or John Ross slips there, then its a debate. Otherwise, Feeney would be the smart pick for the future and he can even make an impact on day one. Jackson was a great pick up as well but like Saffold and Robinson there’s an injury history that makes drafting Feeney even more worthwhile.
