There’s a First Time For Everything
The Pirates lead the way in “firsts’ within MLB, and the past few weeks have been no exception. We all know about Gift Ngoepe and Dovydas Neveraus being the first players from Africa and Lithuania respectively – but Univision revealed that outfielder Jose Osuna is the first person from the Venezuelan city of Bocono to make it to the show. According to Wikipedia, Bocono is located in the Andean state of Trujillo and boasts a population of nearly 80,000. The region straddles the Andes Mountains and his home city has an average elevation is 4,019 ft. For reference, the elevation at Seven Springs in 2,530 feet and Pittsburgh ranges in elevation from 738 feet in the Strip District to over 1,300.
