Sloppy First Half Leads To Cavaliers Domination in Game 1 of Eastern Conference Finals

The Cavaliers were all they were talked up to be as they came out hard and fast in game 1 Tuesday night beating the Celtics by a final score of 117-104. It was just not the Celtics night and it might just not be there night for the rest of the series as the Cavaliers outplayed them in all aspects of the game.

All night long it was the LeBron James and Kevin Love show as at times they made the Celtics look silly out on the parquet. James only sat for 6 minutes as he was out on the floor just about all night scoring 38 points with 7 assists and 9 rebounds. Love was not much different as we were making the Celtics night very hard with 32 points and 12 rebounds.

The Celtics just could never find their grove as the first half they looked bad being out rebounded and outplayed for most of the game. The second half the Celtics did step it up a little so I will give them credit there. As it seemed in the Celtics half there finally started to hit some three pointers and play relatively good defense.

The Celtics even managed to go on a 15-to-1 run to end the third quarter that brought the Cavs lead down to 17. But the whole game was not a good night for Isiah Thomas as he played 38 minutes only scoring 17 points but did have 10 assists.  Thomas went 7-for-19 from the field and had 4 turnovers.

“He’s a special athlete. He can do things others can’t do” Stevens said in his post-game press confrere when asked about Jaylen Brown who was one of the Celtics hottest player tonight getting his first career double-double.

It was a game of ups and downs for the Celtics tonight but the second half did not look to bad and if they can play a full game like that. We will have some close games coming down the road. I would not give up total hope just yet as there still might be a chance the Celtics could squeak out a win or two before the series end.

Game 2 is scheduled for Friday night with tip-off being at 8:30 pm.
