Can Anyone Stop Golden State?

The Golden State Warriors have just completed a sweep of the Western Conference. Yes, you read that right.

The Warriors beat the San Antonio Spurs last night 129-115 finishing them off in four games. They are now 12-0 this post season and will wait to face the Eastern Conference champion. With how dominant they have been, the question has to be asked: can anyone stop them? Even at the height of his powers, Jordan wasn’t able to start a playoffs in such a dominant fashion. The only other team that started without a loss was the 2000-01 Lakers. Back then, they played a best-of-5 series in the first round, leaving them one win shy of 12-0. That leaves Golden State at the top.

One of the most staggering stats put up by the Warriors was their point differential they achieved. We all know how historic their offense can be, but with a point differential of 16.3 ppg it shows how strong their defense is as well. By the way, that is the best point differential of all time in the playoffs.

The Warriors have an edge about them this year that they didn’t have last year. They seem genuinely pissed off that they lost last year. It doesn’t hurt that they added one of the best 5 players in the NBA to their roster. Most of their stats don’t seem that mind blowing, but that’s only because they have played less games than the other teams. That being said, Steph Curry is still in top three for PPG, steals, and 3 point attempts. He is on a mission.

At this point, it looks like it will be the third year in a row the Cavs and the Warriors will meet in the Finals. The Warriors look unstoppable as it is, so we’ll see how they finish.
