It was a comeback performance by the Revolution but at the end of the day, they got the job done in front of a rowdy crowd at Jordan Field at Harvard University as they defeated D.C. United 2 to 1. With the win, the Revolution will advance to the U.S. Open Cup Quarter Finals where they will play the New York Red Bulls on July 13th at Jordan Field.

This game was not an easy one for the Revs as D.C. United came out fast putting all the pressure on Revs Keeper Brad Knighton on his toes for the first quarter of the game. This was when D.C. United would take the lead on a Jose Guillermo Ortiz diving header goal just 7 minutes into the game.

For that point on D.C. would start to decline and they lost that buzz they had in the opening quarter of the game. It took some time for the Revs to make their move but it happened and it happened quickly. The Revs would score two goals giving them the lead in a matter of four minutes.

The tying goal scored by Diego Fagundez came forty-four minutes in, and the winning goal scored by Brian Wright was scored forty-eight minutes in. From there the Revs played themselves into a quarterfinal matchup between the New York Red Bulls on July 13th.

The Revolution will have two games including one vs. the Red Bulls before they continue their quest for the franchise’s fourth Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The Revolution next play Sunday, July 2nd vs the Philadelphia Union.
