Hump Day Links -Football, Hockey and More

Good Afternoon! There’s a lot of hockey and football news coming across the Twitter Verse today. There are roughly two weeks until the University of North Dakota football team takes on the University of Utah Utes in Salt Lake City, UT. On the college hockey front, there are 50 days until the UND hockey team takes on the UAA Seawolves in Anchorage, Alaska.

By now, you’ve probably read about the 2017 Big Sky/Missouri Valley Challenge Games.

Here’s the schedule:

Number 4 SDSU at MSU
Number 23 Cal Poly at #18 Northern Iowa

Tiger Wood’s toxicology report doesn’t look good, he had five different drugs in his system when he was pulled over for DUI last Memorial Day weekend.

Tiger Woods reportedly had five different drugs in his system when police pulled him over in the middle of the night and arrested him on suspicion of DUI in Jupiter Memorial Day weekend, according to a toxicology report released by the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office. (Link to story)

From Paul Walsh of the StarTribune. Ex-KFAN radio host Jeff Dubay is back in the news again and this time Dubay is charged with third-degree felony assault. Last night on Facebook, Dubay expressed his innocence. Remember, in America, you’re innocent until proven guilty.

“I was recently wrongfully accused of assault in Washington County,” Dubay wrote Tuesday evening on Facebook. “You are likely to hear details that are not true and will be refuted by the only eyewitness. Be assured I will appear in court and defend vigorously, as I am absolutely not guilty of the charges. Thank you for your support.”

Grant Mismash hasn’t played a game for UND yet, but he’s already making the news.

Here’s another good read: Missouri Valley, CAA Football teams have built-in advantages

Of particular note is Eastern Washington. While the Eagles only face three preseason ranked teams in North Dakota State, No. 21 Fordham and 2016 Big Sky co-champ North Dakota, they’ve long been the poster team for difficult FCS schedules. They also open against Texas Tech and face Montana, Southern Utah and Weber State, a trio that made an FCS playoff appearance in one of the last two seasons.

Speaking of North Dakota, there are huge expectations surrounding the Fighting Hawks, including a preseason No. 5 ranking. However, they’ve never won an FCS playoff game, and in between a season opener at Utah and the home finale against Eastern Washington, they don’t face another preseason ranked team.
