Miami Marlins v New York Mets

The New York Mets (54-67) snapped their five game losing streak last night by picking up an 8-1 win over the Miami Marlins (59-62). Rafael Montero allowed one run in six innings of work to finally earn a win over a National League East foe while Wilmer Flores and Kevin Plawecki each launched two run homers in the win. The Mets will look to secure a series victory this afternoon as they wrap up their weekend set with the Marlins today. First pitch for the finale is scheduled for 1:10 pm at Citi Field.

The Mets will send their ace, right hander Jacob deGrom (13-6, 3.35 ERA), to the mound this afternoon. deGrom suffered a loss in his last start, giving up five runs in 7.1 innings against the New York Yankees last Tuesday. The Marlins will counter with left hander Adam Conley (5-5, 5.32 ERA). Conley picked up his fifth win of the year last Monday, allowing three runs in 6.1 innings to defeat the San Francisco Giants.
