The Revolution owned just about 3/4 of the game but it was not enough to steal a win from New York as they came back to beat the Revolution 2-1. This game was a big deal for the Revolution in the standings as they have struggled on the road all year to find their first win, not at Gillette Stadium. With this loss, the Revs are now 0-9-3 when away.
It looked like the Revs were going to find this first away win of the season as a Teal Bunbury goal in the 57th minute gave the Revs a 1-0 advantage on a goalie error. This combined with a very aggressive Revs defense made it look like it was going to be a Revolution dominated second half.
unfortunately, that would not be the case as a David Villa goal in the 77th minute tied the game and a goal in the 4 minutes into stoppage-time by Jonathan Lewis gave New York FC the win.
With this loss, the Revolution will stay in 10th place with an 8-11-5 record and are 7 points out of a playoff spot in the east. As for the New York City Football Club, they advance to 14-7-4 and will hold their spot as second in the east.
The Revs will now start to prepare for D.C. United next Saturday night in Washington D.C., will the Revs finally find their first road win of the season?
