8/21/17 Game Preview: Arizona Diamondbacks at New York Mets

Miami Marlins v New York Mets

Things didn’t go too well for the New York Mets (54-68) last week. The Mets dropped five out of six games, including four out of their first five on this nine game home stand. Things won’t get any easier tonight, as the Mets welcome the Wild Card contending Arizona Diamondbacks (67-57) to town for a four game series. First pitch for the opener of that four game set is scheduled for 7:10 pm at Citi Field.

The Mets will send right hander Robert Gsellman (5-5, 5.98 ERA) to the mound tonight. Gsellman pitched well in his return from the disabled list last Wednesday, giving up three runs (two earned) in 5.1 innings against the New York Yankees, but did not factor in the decision. The Yankees ended up winning the game 5-3. The Diamondbacks will counter with right hander Taijuan Walker (6-7, 3.83 ERA). Walker suffered a loss his last time out, giving up five runs (three earned) in five innings to fall to the Houston Astros last Wednesday.
