Denny Hamlin Wins In Thrilling Finish At Darlington

The Xfinity drivers were back to Darlington for a super short 200 mile event.  Denny Hamlin picked off the pole for the event.

The race starts off with an early caution for Matt Tifft that winds up smacking the inside wall hard and a second one at lap 9 for Ty Dillion that spins out.  We finally get a good long good green flag long with Denny Hamlin leading laps as Kevin Harvick got hot and took the race lead at lap 30.  A few laps later and the caution is out for Ray Black Jr. that spins out.  When the race restarted Kevin quickly got the race lead and then took the stage one win.

The second stage saw Joey Logano lead a whole bunch of laps.  Dylan Lupton spins out around lap 71 though to bring out the caution.  When the race continued Kevin Harvick was back to the race lead.

The third stage started off with Joey Logano leading laps. At lap 99 it was caution time for Spencer Galagher who spins out.  As the race continued Joey Logano got to lead more laps as Kevin Harvick got hot and took the race lead with 30 laps left.  With 11 laps left Dakoda Armstrong spins out to bring out the caution. The leaders pit and Joey Logano wins the race off pit road.

The race restarts with six laps left and Kevin Harvick just does not have a solid restart and looses a bunch of spots.  The Elliott Sadler gets sent into the wall into the caution.  The race continued with two laps left.  Denny Hamlin did the bold move and took the race lead.  On the final lap Joey Logano does a bold move and gets the race lead, but he could not hold the race lead as Denny Hamlin does the crossover move and takes the race win.

“A throwback to Dale Earnhardt in turns three and four,” said Denny Hamlin.

Elliott Sadler stated he thought he was clear.

“Denny had great restart,” said Joey Logano. “Just got tight on the exit.”
