Putting the final ribbon on Eagles’ big win…

Eaglesrun

Perhaps the most costly consequence of the Eagles’ win over the Giants is the loss of Darren Sproles for the rest of the 2017 season. My personal regret is we will not have him fielding and returning punts. That guy was so sure-handed and wise in his judgement when fielding punts.  He could break a big return, too, and more often than just occasionally.

The Eagles made it official yesterday and placed running back Darren Sproles on Injured Reserve. Sproles broke his right forearm and tore the ACL in his left knee on a second-quarter run against the New York Giants.

“Darren is such a great person, a great player, but obviously it kills you for him,” ST coordinator Dave Fipp said. “He’s such a competitor. He loves being out there. He loves practice. He loves the whole process, so for that to be taken away from him is a killer.”

Regarding punt returns, Fipp was not specific about who would replace Sproles back there. He used Torrey Smith in one punt return situation against the Giants.

Meanwhile, Jordan Hicks’ ankle injury looks like it could linger as the Eagles prepare to play the L.A. Chargers this weekend. He’s officially listed as “day-to-day”.

With Hicks out, the Eagles used Nigel BradhamPutting the final ribbon on Eagles' big win... and Mychal KendricksPutting the final ribbon on Eagles' big win... in nickel personnel. Bradham had eight tackles and Kendricks had seven with two passes defensed, one leading to an interception, in the win. “We just stepped up,” Kendricks said. “It took everyone out there to get it done. We were down a lot of guys.”

Don’t be surprised if Fletcher Cox sits the next one out, too. Doug Pederson said Cox’ calf contusion is “day-to-day” but Les Bowen reports he “would not expect Cox to be ready to play in L.A. this week.”

The next official injury report comes out on Wednesday.

Now we can tie things up with the Eagles’ game stats following the victory over the Giants:
