Dealing with my inner Beasley as an Eagles fan…

abeas

Here’s the deal going into Dallas… everyone says this is going to be a cakewalk for the Eagles…but I don’t buy it.

I led with my chin over at Bleeding Green Nation last night— Maybe I shouldn’t post there anymore because I always seem to stir something or nothing into a massive yawn. But this is how it went down at BGN:

“The one thing that concerns me is the possibility of a track meet…

Dallas out-schemes our pass rush and contain…they unleash all that intermediate and under stuff from their speed receivers…it gets messy…we have to make tough adjustments…it’s 31-31 with 10 minutes to go…

“Lol Dallas out-schemes

In all seriousness they will not do the same things as last week. That clearly was trash and only the worst of the worst Cleveland could roll that out 2x in a row. That being said we’ve done very well in adjustments, know their players, and are well rested. Schwartz will know they will use Dak’s mobility as much as possible and quick routes to Witten and Beasley against our LBs. Our guys will take care of it.

They’ll score, we’ll score more.

“Dallas doesn’t scheme.

They run to set up the pass, play ball control. So let them try to scheme.

“I just want Dak to be sacked until he’s seeing ghosts or smoking crack.

“If this was any other Eagles team

I would be worried about this game in Dallas. But this team is special, they’re focused, they have their eye on the prize. They’re going to destroy Dallas.

“Geez, guys, I didn’t say we’d LOSE a track meet!

“Now Joe D. owes me $50…’cause my feelings are hurt!

Someone left Joe D.’s cake out in the rain…

“Is this where I do the Johnny Carson tap dance?”

I don’t understand any of this!
Yeah, I know, Zeke Elliot is out for the Cowboys, LT Tyron Smith is out, LB Sean Lee is out, our secondary is better than what Dak Prescott and his receivers faced last season against us…
It should add up to a nice advantage for the Birds.

But…as Jimmy Kempski points out, “what the Cowboys have is a variety of receivers with varying skill sets who can beat opposing defenses as a group.”

“They have an outstanding group,” said DC Jim Schwartz. “They have a Hall-of-Fame tight end, big play wide receiver. They’ve added some other wide receivers. They can all make plays. Quarterback can threaten with every single one. They really don’t have a favorite receiver or one guy they’re going to all the time, even though they certainly want to get the ball to Dez Bryant.”

It’s that bloody Beasley I’m worried about.

Cole Beasley is the kind of player on offense that can give the Eagles fits….

Beasley drives me mad. We’re going to be challenged to account for him. He’s like the smallest guy in the rival surfer gang who always seems to slip through security and plants a doggie poo-poo on the front seat of your dune buggy.
I just don’t think this game in Dallas is going to be as easy as many of us think.
