2017 fWAR: 3.0

2018 fWAR (so far): 3.3

Although Patrick Corbin has cooled a bit since his other-worldly start to the season, he’s still setting himself up nicely for an impending trip into free agency this winter. His 30.4% strikeout rate and 3.05 SIERA are both on track to be career bests, but his 43.1% hard-hit rate allowed would be a career-worst mark if the season ended today.

A lot has been made about his slider, and it’s been a huge part of his success up to this point. Opposing hitters own just a 37 wRC+ while going down on strikes at a 58.1% clip against the pitch.
