ESPN “analyst” Stephen A. Smith had an appearance that was so awful on Thursday, that it left us wondering if he even wants the sports he “analyzes.”
Smith came on to talk about the Chargers-Chiefs matchup on Thursday Night Football, the problem is that he knew little about either team.
And what he did believe to “know” was not even true, as he believed a number of players would be on the field as difference-makers — the problem is that most of them won’t even be playing, given that they’re either free agents or on injured reserve.
Smith’s gaffes began when he started talking out Chiefs running back Spencer Ware, who has been ruled out for the game. It spiraled downhill from there. He also thought the Chargers were still in San Diego. Our person favorite, though, is when he talked about the “matchup” between Hunter Henry and Derrick Johnson. The problem is that Henry is on injured reserve, while Johnson is a free agent, and isn’t even in the NFL anymore.
That’s why they pay him the big bucks.
