Well, since the Penguins decided to get shit pumped by the Blackhawks (THE FUCKING BLACKHAWKS!) again last night, I figured we’d take a stroll down memory lane to revisit the last time this franchise didn’t shit its pants in the windy city (hint: only three current Penguins were on that roster).
Thankfully, noted good boy, G, did all the research for me. Sure, I may be a lazy piece of shit for keeping this week’s edition of #TBT rather short, but so, too, is Evgeni Malkin! I guess great minds two people of completely different nationalities that have nothing to do with one another and have vastly different bank account sizes think alike! Fuck all that effort.
So without wasting any more of your time, let’s take a look at the last time the Penguins won a goddamn hockey game in Chicago.
The Penguins haven't won in Chicago since a 5-4 OT win on Feb. 27, 2009 (!!!!!!) https://t.co/riGDZsPTiw

Here was the lineup:
Shoutout Tim Wallace (and Eric Godard for managing to get a penalty in 1:49 TOI).
Crosby didn't play. Cristobal Huet and Antti Niemi split duties in goal for Chicago. Miroslav Satan and Eric Godard were the only two Pengiuns that posted a shot attempt share greater than 50% (61.5% and 66.7% respectively) at 5v5

Fun fact: Niemi used to be good.
Satan played 8:44 total and ended up with a goal and an assist lmao

The Penguins record in Chicago since 2009:
They haven't won consecutive games in Chicago since a 4-2 win on 12/26/99 (https://t.co/ykde6hu6ZT) and a 4-0 win on 1/21/01 (https://t.co/uxmlJIY9Vu)

Not great!
Pens had Jagr, Kasparaitis, Kovalev, Lang, Morozov, Rozsival (lol), Peter Skudra/JS Aubin in the lineup for the game in 99.
Chicago iced: Tony Amonte, Doug Gilmour, Michael Nylander, Bob Probert, Steve Sullivan (!!), Jocelyn Thibault, and……Eddie Olczyk

Guess Eddie O didn’t keep his stick on the ice that game.
In 2001, Matthew Barnaby, Marc Bergevin (!!), Jagr, Kasparaitis, Kovy, 66, Kevin Stevens, Marty Straka, Billy Tibbets were in the Penguins lineup. Garth Snow with the shutout 🧐
No Eddie O for the return game though.

Or this game.
So what did we learn from this?
(You right now)
.
.
.
The Penguins couldn’t win a game in Chicago even if it meant the Blackhawks were the worst team in the NHL and coming off of an eight game losing streak where they only held a lead for :45 over the previous 27 calendar days.
.
Go Pens?
P.S. – this blog sucked.
