Name: Brian Kelleher

Opponent: Montel Jackson

Odds: +148 (bet $100 to win $148)

I’ve said time and time again that Kelleher has taken a bad rap for an incredibly tough strength of schedule. At 3-2 in the UFC he’s already fought Renan Barao, Iuri Alcanatara, and John Lineker. With the two former being in the win column for him, you know he has some real talent.

Yet here he is against a 6-1 newcomer (0-1 in the UFC), and is a sizable underdog. While Jackson has plenty of wins by finish, they are mostly against inexperienced fighters and journeymen (with Rico DiSciullo being the exception). As a result, I think this is a fight where Kelleher’s toughness and experience leads him to a gritty decision.

BONUS PLAY: If your sportsbook is posting odds early, you might see that Kelleher by (T)KO is currently at +1100. He recently beat Damian Stasiak by KO and has shown the ability to knock people out. It might not be the most likely option, but at 11-to-1 it is definitely worth dipping your toes in on.
