Alabama head coach Nick Saban expects the most out of his players, and he has no tolerance for mental mistakes.

So when the team committed three penalties on the same drive in the first half of the Capital One Orange Bowl — likely costing the Crimson Tide four points — he was furious about it. Offensive lineman Jedrick Willis Jr. committed an illegal formation penalty on the drive, which wiped out a big play that would’ve put the Crimson Tide on the Sooners’ one-yard line. Later in the drive, a false start by running back Damien Harris on a fourth-and-1 situation forced the Crimson Tide to kick a field goal, rather than going for it on the Sooners’ 15-yard line, and potentially scoring a touchdown right before halftime.

The penalty on Harris was too much for Saban to bear, and he slammed his headset on the ground in frustration afterward.

Saban threw the headset so hard he actually broke it. As for the Crimson Tide, they kicked a field goal, and took a 31-10 lead into halftime.
