Latest rumors on Dwayne Haskins’ NFL draft status, future outlook

NCAA Football: Rose Bowl Game-Ohio State vs Washington

Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins is rumored to be the most-coveted/top-ranked signal-caller in the draft, if he declares, now that Oregon’s Justin Herbert will be staying for another year.

Herbert was deemed to be a “project” with a high ceiling, similar to Josh Allen, but he’s only 20 years old, so it wasn’t surprising that he elected to stay in college.

And his loss could be Haskins’ gain, as if he chooses to declare for the draft, he’d likely be a sure top-10 pick, if not top 5.

A recent report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk suggests that Haskins’ Ohio State teammates believe he’s going to leave the team to declare for the draft. It reads:

Per a league source, at least some Buckeyes teammates believe Haskins is leaving. PFT previously has reported that Haskins is indeed expected to leave college football.

The NFL’s draft advisory board gave Haskins a first-round projection. If that happens, he’ll be only the third Ohio State quarterback to become a first-round draft pick.

It’s crazy to think that now two Buckeyes could end up being the top two picks in the draft — in Joey Bosa and Haskins. Either way, all signs point toward Haskins declaring, so it will be interesting to see how NFL teams view him. Stay tuned.
