WWE Raw has been without one of its top female competitors since October of 2018, as Alexa Bliss has been out of action with concussion issues. Bliss continues to appear on TV on a weekly basis in a non-physical role, but she has not competed in a WWE ring in months.
Bliss’ injury issues kept her off the inaugural WWE Evolution PPV, at which Bliss was supposed to team up with Mickie James to face the team of WWE Hall of Famers Trish Stratus and Lita.
Alexa Bliss made an appearance at the recent Ace Comic Con event in Phoenix, Arizona, and during the Q&A portion of the appearance she provided a big update on her WWE in-ring return status. Bliss noted that she is ready to return to the ring, however the company is being very “cautious” in clearing her to return due to the nature of her injuries.
Bliss added that she was “heartbroken” when she learned she would not be able to compete at WWE Evolution, but she recently underwent several MRI’s and they have all come back with positive news. As of now, Bliss is simply waiting for the WWE medical team to give her clearance to return to the ring.
Most recently, WWE debuted a new segment for Alexa Bliss on Raw, titled “A Moment of Bliss”, during which the former Raw Women’s Champion interviews talents in her typical heel style. The idea behind the segment is to keep Bliss relevant on WWE TV until she receives clearance to return to the ring. As of now, creative plans for Bliss going forward remain unclear, as WWE waits until she can return to active in-ring competition.
Below is a video highlight from the new “Moment of Bliss” segment, in addition to a video featuring Bliss revealing her New Year’s resolutions for 2019, as she looks ahead to returning to the ring in WWE.
