Former Yankees closer Mariano Rivera made history on Tuesday, when he became the first MLB player to be unanimously voted into the Hall of Fame.

Rivera received all 425 votes, surpassing Ken Griffey Jr. for highest percentage, as he had gotten 437 of 440 two years ago (99.32 percent).

And he certainly deserved it.

Rivera leads MLB players in career saves, as he recorded 652. He was as close to perfect as they come. His cutter was a revolutionary pitch, and it shattered plenty of bats, and also produced plenty more ground balls.

Rivera and his family watched the big news together as it was announced on Tuesday, and they had a pretty great reaction to it.
