Latest Wizards trade rumors on Bradley Beal, Otto Porter Jr.

NBA: Toronto Raptors at Washington Wizards

The Wizards had made the playoffs four of the last five seasons heading into their 2018-19 campaign, but it’s up in the air if they’ll be going to the postseason this year, so talk has been focused about what types of trades and roster restructuring may go on.

As such, the focus has been on their “big three” — John Wall, Bradley Beal and Otto Porter Jr., all of which are on max deals.

Wall’s contract makes him nearly untradeable, so he’s probably going to remain in Washington D.C. for years to come, despite the rumors about him teaming up with LeBron James on the Lakers. And he’s currently injured/out for the year, so he’s not in the talk leading up to the trade deadline.

Beal is intriguing, though, as he can immediately come in and help any contender win — and, most importantly, he can shoot from the perimeter to stretch the floor. That’s what a number of teams are looking for, as there aren’t many players like that on the market this year. However, according to a report from Shams Charania, Beal isn’t going anywhere, as the Wizards will not be placing him on the trade block.

Not only that, Charania also notes that the team is, however, willing to move Otto Porter Jr., and that they’re fielding calls on him. The Jazz are reportedly interested in his services, as they have the cap room to bring him in, and could use another athletic scorer to help defend, but, most importantly, knock down open shots from the perimeter.

Porter is playing out a $106.5 million contract, and is on year two of four. It’s hard to see too many suitors, given his cap hit –which figures to drive the asking price down a bit — but the Jazz do make sense as a potential landing spot.
