Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins singled in his second at-bat Thursday afternoon in Miami, moving him into sole possession of second place on the franchise’s all-time hit leader board.

Richie Ashburn is now third on the franchise hit list. I could be wrong, but I have a feeling Ashburn would have been a big fan of Rollins, as well as his biggest critic. Surely the two would have had a good back-and-forth from time to time given their personalities as well.
Rollins is now just 16 hits away from tying Mike Schmidt for the top spot, and 17 shy of becoming the franchise’s all-time hit leader.
