With spring training here, we are starting to look forward to spring training baseball in the Grapefruit League. While we still are not sure of the local Phillies Grapefruit coverage just yet, we do know at least two games will be airing this spring.

ESPN will broadcast two separate Grapefruit League games involving the Phillies. According to Awful Announcing, the March 19 game against the New York Yankees in Tampa will be shown on ESPN at 7 p.m. Jon Sciambi, Rick Sutcliffe and former Phillies outfielder Doug Glanville will be on the call for the primetime spring training game. ESPN will carry the Phillies the following week on March 24 when the Phillies take on NL East rival Atlanta at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista at 1 p.m. Karl Ravech, Aaron Boone and Tim Kurkijan will be the voices of the game that afternoon.

ESPN is essentially passing on broadcasting either Sportscenter or Baseball Tonight from Clearwater on its 30-club tour, but Britt McHenry will be assigned to coverage from Phillies spring training on Tuesday, March 3. Baseball Tonight will set up shop in Lakeland with the Detroit Tigers and Sportscenter will be broadcasting from Surprise, Arizona with the Texas Rangers. Pedro Gomez will be in Phoenix with the Oakland Athletics that day as well.
