That… was a let down

The NHL trade deadline is always assured to be a wacky affair, with trades flying fast and furious, with players switching sweaters and home towns and linemates. The NHL deadline is usually good for 20+ moves and a couple of head scratchers and a few blockbusters. This year? Not much. Kris Russel was the big name that moved. That was about it. Vancouver did nothing, despite having a wealth of movable prospects. Jonathan Drouin is still in Tampa, Loui Eriksson in Boston. Nothing really exciting actually happened. Maybe we have something in the Scoreboard?

SCOREBOARD
Philadelphia 5, Calgary 3 – The Flames did make moves before the deadline. They weren’t very good to begin with but now, here they are, worse.

San Jose 6, Montreal 2 – Carey Price just reinjured himself on purpose.

Tampa Bay 2, Toronto 1 – The Lightning were just busy skating aound with a whole uncomfortable “we have to act like we want Drouin on our team” vibe. Too preoccupied to score too many goals.

New York Rangers 2, Columbus 1 – Eric Staal makes teams bad. That’s what I learned.

Pittsburgh 6, Arizona 0 – Michael Boedker was all that held the Coyotes together. He was traded to Colorado yesterday.

Detroit 3, Dallas 2 (OT) – The Stars like to open the game up and were forcing their way upon Detroit, but as it turns out, the Red Wings didn’t care for that.
