Grading the Basketball Badgers: Frank Kaminsky

Kaminsky

We are nearing the end here in our Grading the Basketball Badgers series for 2012 and we’ve hit the end of the line for the Freshman on the roster, at least those that saw action this past season, as we take a look at the year that was for Frank Kaminsky.

The play of Kaminsky was needed because there was a lack of quality depth up front and some wondered how a true Freshman would fare, especially come conference play.  Evidence showed he fared quite fine indeed and the stats bare that out for him, so let’s take a look at what he did this year and what grades he earned from us.

Overall Stats:

1.8ppg, 1.4rpg, 13 blocks, 7.7minutes a game, 41.1%FG shooting

Grades:

Cole: A

Andy: A

– Kaminsky came in as someone that might be fighting for some sort of playing time, but was going to have to compete to get on the court.  By the end of the season he became a solid player on the defensive end of the court and a nice change of pace from Jared Berggren.  For a freshman on the Wisconsin roster I’m not sure you could ask much more than what Kaminsky offered.  He proved he could at least shoot the ball from deep if needed and was a good option around the basket, something that will only continue to develop with time.  His best game this season may have been the effort against a very good UNLV team where he scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in just 12 minutes of play.  He could become a really solid option and showing that he’s not the next Evan Anderson was also a plus.
