Monday Mid-Day Links

For this being the “off-season” it sure hasn’t felt that way in the past 4 days or so with all of theWhite basketball, hockey, and football news coming down the pipeline.  We all know the stuff on Jarrod Uthoff as we’ve been on top of that situation from nearly hour one, but I thought it best to reset the rest of what’s been going on around the Badger programs, so here’s your Monday Mid-Day Links for your viewing pleasure.

First things first is a look at the Big Ten courtesy of our friends over at College Football Zealots, where I was lucky enough to be part of a great panel that also included our friend Kevin McGuire from The Nittany Lions Den, Mike from the newest Bloguin site The Little Brothers Blog (MSU) and Ross from Black Heart Gold Pants.

It was a three part series that tackled who will have a bigger impact: DOB or Andrew Maxwell and I was in the vast minority, but still think I was right.  The second part was a discussion about players under the radar and we ended the roundtable by picking our early sleeper teams.

Oh, and if you thought we were done with the folks from College Football Zealots, you’d be flat wrong my friend. Earlier today they took a look at the Top 10 Schools Most Overdue for a National Championship and you guessed it, Wisconsin is on that list.  Not going to tell you where, but I totally agree with them on their reasoning, that’s for sure.

Like I said earlier, we’ve been on top of the Uthoff situation from nearly hour one and we’ve got a bit of an interesting take from our friends over at CycloneFanatic where publisher Chris Williams talks about a reason for ISU being on the restricted list that hasn’t been talked about much and he may just be dead on.

On to some non-football or basketball talk it’s on to Olympic sports as we’re only a few short months from the 2012 London games.  According to UWBadgers.com Six Badgers are going at the U.S. Wrestling Olympic Trials.

Switching gears there’s been a lot of speculation that both Justin Schultz and John Ramage would be gone from the program after this past season as they begin their pro careers in the NHL.  However Schultz hasn’t decided on it yet and according to Chuck Schwartz over at Bucky’s 5th Quarter it’s looking more likely that Ramage, the 2011-12 captain, will be returning for his Senior season.

Also on the Badger hockey front is a great article by Andy Baggot in the Wisconsin State Journal about current Badger defenseman Jake McCabe and future Badger right winger Grant Besse’s outlook for the upcoming NHL draft.

I saved the least fun news for last today, but it bares mentioning that the QB’s on the Badger roster didn’t exactly instill a ton of confidence they have what it takes to compete once Danny O’Brien gets here in the fall.

Look for this to be a pretty regular feature here in the near future, but with some changes, so look for an announcement soon in regards to that and some hockey coverage on our end!!  Enjoy the rest of your day and ON WISCONSIN!
