Alvarez and Ward Respond to Penn State Sanctions

AlvarezNow that the NCAA and Big Ten have leveld their unprecedented sanctions against Penn State we have word from both Wisconsin Athletic Director and Interim Chancellor David Ward. They issued a joint statement earlier this afternoon stating:

“This is obviously an extraordinarily serious and sad situation. We believe that the sanctions announced earlier today by the NCAA and the Big Ten Conference are appropriate, given the gravity of the circumstances.

“We remain hopeful that the pain and suffering endured by the victims in this case will not go unheeded. We must find ways to learn from the mistakes of the past, and we must never lose sight of our shared institutional responsibility to act with openness and integrity.”
