One for the Books

It may not have been pretty, but Saturday's 26-21 win over Northern Iowa saw the Badgers and several of their players make new entries into the record books.

The victory marked the 15th consecutive time Wisconsin has won its season opener. It is the third longest streak in all of the FBS behind Nebraska (27) and Florida (23).

The Badgers have now won 17 consecutive home games, the second longest active streak in the nation. The Tigers of LSU have claimed 18 straight home contests.

Heac coach Bret Bielema is now 25-0 in regular season non-conference game a mark that is second only to Fielding Yost of Michigan who started his career 41-0 from 1901-06.

Running back Montee Ball scored a touchdown in his 21st straight game. He is now just 17 games off the NCAA record.

Ball's touchdown scamper also placed him alongside Anthony Davis at fourth on the Big Ten's all-time rushing touchdown list.

Danny O'Brien passed for 219 yards in his UW debut, that is the third highest total in program history. O'Brien is one of just six Wisconsin quarterbacks to have thrown for over 200 yards in their first start.

Wde receiver Jared Abbrederis' two touchdown catches put him in sole possession of tenth on the all-time receiving touchdowns list at UW.

Abbrederis also moved into eighth place in school history in career punt return yards.
