The offensive opportunities were there, but the Wisconsin women's hockey team couldn't find the back of the net in a 2-0 to Minnesota-Duluth Saturday afternoon at AMSOIL Arena.
Brienna Gillanders got the scoring started for the Bulldogs just over a minute into the game.
That score would hold until Jenna McParland lit the lamp late in the third period to extend the UMD lead to 2-0.
Wisconsin out-shot UMD 31-17 and held a 28-24 edge in the faceoff circle.
Alex Rigsby stopped 15 shots for the Badgers in a losing effort.
The game marks the first time that Wisconsin has been shutout since January 7, in a 1-0 loss to Minnesota.
UW falls to 3-1-1 on the young season and 1-1-1 in WCHA play.
The two teams cap off the series Sunday afternoon. Faceoff is set for 3 p.m.
