It was a nail biting kind of day today for members of the Wisconsin Women's soccer team as they awaited word on a possible NCAA tournament birth. As the selection show got under way they learned their season was not to end just yet as they earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament and will face 3rd seeded UCLA in a first round matchup this weekend.

Wisconsin finished with the sixth seed in the Big Ten tournament and lost to Michigan in the opening round of that tournament, leaving their fate in the hands of the selection committee. Their 12-7-1 mark on the year was enough to get them into the field according to the committee.

The Badgers and UCLA will meet for the 3rd time in their history and for the 2nd time this season in Los Angeles. Wisconsin went down to defeat 2-0 in an early season non-conference contest back in August.

Overall the Badgers are 13-15-2 in the NCAA tournament and will be making their 3rd appearance in the tournament under current head coach Paula Wilkins. Wilkins is making her 9th overall appearance as a head coach, having previously been at the helm of the Penn State program.

Wisconsin and UCLA will square off in the NCAA tournament for the 1st time on Saturday at 7:30pm Central time.
