Two Commits added to Wisconsin’s 2013 class

With all the news of conference expansion a little nugget of football recruiting has gotten lost in the shuffle, Wisconsin has added added two more recruits to their 2013 class. With these two additions it's going to be really interesting to see if anyone else comes on board as the numbers are getting very stretched for who they can take in this class.

The first of those named commitments to the Badgers should be a familiar name to Badgers fans. The last name Ball is continuing to become popular at Wisconsin and no we aren't talking about Montee Ball. Instead we are talking about Marcus Ball, the younger brother of current Badgers offensive lineman Ray Ball.

Unlike Ray Marcus isn't a big offensive lineman, but rather a consensus 3 star recruit from Westerville, OH. He is considered an athlete commit, but is likely a safety or linebacker at the next level. He was a two way star for Westerville South though as a dual threat quarterback, so in a pinch he could play that position as well and lord knows we've seen crazy things happen at that position over the past few seasons at Wisconsin.

Here is how Ball stand according to the recruiting services:

  • 247sports: No. 64 ATH, No. 38 in state of Ohio
  • Rivals: No. 51 ATH, No 39 in state of Ohio
  • Scout: No. 49 ATH
  • ESPNRN: No. 69 ATH, No. 27 in state of Ohio, No. 60 in region

Ball is a special athlete to say the least and seeing him on tape I believe his best position could well be at Safety for the Badgers, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him grow almost too big for the position. He's already 6'3" and 210lbs. in high school. Either way he's fast, hard hitting, and will add a great skill set to whatever position he ends up.

The other commit for Wisconsin yesterday was something we haven't seen much of lately and that's a Juco transfer. His name is Tiquention Coleman and he is a two star cornerback coming from Georgia Military College. Coleman stands 5'10" and weighs 200lbs. He is a three star by 247sports and a two star by all other recruiting services.

You can see on video why Wisconsin went after this Juco corner and you can see a bit of his recruiter, Ben Strickland, in him. I'll let the video do the talking so take a look:

Here is the video on Ball as well:
