The Al Golden to Wisconsin speculation heated up over the past few days and clearly there was some level of interest and talks at some point, but I'm pretty sure this message from Sports Illustrated's Pete Thamel on his twitter account sums up where things stand.
Just got word that Al Golden is flattered by Alvarez's interest but staying at Miami.

Golden was rumored to be mulling his decision and would have one by today, which we clearly have. If Golden isn't going to leave now it's unlikely he's leaving on his own anytime soon down in Coral Gables. He is 13-11 at the helm of the Hurricanes, who were bowl eligible this season, but aren't playing again in hopes of staving off a few of what's expected to be bad NCAA sanctions from it's investigation.
….. more after the jump….
Other coaching notes:
I've learned from sources around Ames that Paul Rhoads has had contact with Wisconsin, but the pull of family being close in Iowa may keep him from jumping to Madison. However, he is also one of the candidates that is on the short list from what we understand and both sides could be posturing a bit by putting info out to the public. For me, Rhoads checks off every box on the Alvarez check list he's stated publicly, but we shall see. The whole Dan McCarney connection is also hard to deny.
Some have thrown the name Jay Norvell out there as a potential candidate – are you kidding me? Look if Wisconsin is hiring a coordinator it's not going to be the guy who turned down Wisconsin just one year ago to be their offensive coordinator because the offensive philosophies weren't going to match.
Bowling Green head coach Dave Clawson is a name that emerged because of the fact that Alvarez was in Ohio earlier this week. I'm not sure why he'd be on the list as he's a whole 22-26 in his career at Bowling Green and while overall record isn't everything it's a bit troubling with all of the other talented coaches Wisconsin could be after from the MAC to begin with. This one has hopefully zero legs – talk about "not creating a buzz," right?
I'd continue on, but I think you get the point. Literally there are "journalists" and twitter people just throwing names like spaghetti against the wall and seeing if any of them stick. Unless there's actually some shred of evidence and not just baseless speculation we're not going to sit here and jump at every name thrown out there.
However, when credible information or names pop up make sure you're following us on Twitter @MTBadgers.
