Two of the assistants hired last January could be on their way out of Badgers program today as it's being reported that Matt Canada is being offered the offensive coordinator position at N.C. State and Andy Buh is off to join Bret Bielema's staff at Arkansas.
Canada's potential move isn't too surprising as he was the offensive coordinator in the spread system that new Wolfpack head coach Dave Doeren hired him to coach at Northern Illinois. According to some reports Canada has been trying to hold off on his decision but has been given a Friday deadline to say yea or nay by Doeren.
Let's be clear, we aren't saying he is taking the NC State job offer just yet as he is reportedly thought very highly of around the program in Madison and his family is happy in Madison as well. He very well could end up staying at Wisconsin. What we are saying is that we should know a decision one way or the other relatively soon.
As for Buh, he's likely off to join Bielema and defensive coordinator Chris Ash at Arkansas. His loss would hurt Wisconsin in recruiting out west as he had brought in a few verbal commitments from some California area kids. It remains to be seen how his loss affects a guy like Tyler Foreman – a Safety out of Encino, CA.
Some people in the Twitterverse began freaking out last night because the offensive and defensive coordinator positions at Wisconsin were posted online, but it's simply a procedural thing because all contracts are up on February 3rd, so there's that to stop freaking out about. So, over the next few days you can expect literally every single position on the coaching staff to be posted online.
