Ramage Named WCHA Defender of the Week

Scoring game winning overtime goals, that's what will win you the hearts and minds of Badger hockey fans everywhere. Apparently it'll also win you the WCHA Defender of the Week, which is exactly what John Ramage did and won for his two game winning overtime goals that extended the Badgers undefeated streak to 10 straight games.

Ramage's goals were about as unexpected as possible as they were just the 3rd and 4th of the season and Ramage now has 6 points on the year (4 goals, 2 assists). He was also +3 for the weekend and part of an amazing penalty kill that killed off 11 of 12 Mavericks power plays.

Friday Ramage's goal came at the 4:28 minute of OT, giving the Badgers their first road WCHA overtime vicotry since 2006. Saturday he did the same, scoring with just 6.2 seconds left in the OT period to lift the Badgers over .500 on the year and bring them to within just 4 points of the WCHA top spot.

Wisconsin (8-7-5, 6-5-5 WCHA) is now receiving votes in the USCHO.com D1 poll and will face a non-conference test against a tough Miami (OH) squad at home this weekend.
